Release Notes 4.0

What’s New

map.apps 4 allows creating of 3D map applications. Therefore 2D map contents can be projected on a terrain model or Web scenes from Portal for ArcGIS or ArcGIS Online can be visualized. Therefore map.apps contains two versions of the ArcGIS API for JavaScript: 3.x and 4.x. ArcGIS API for JavaScript 4.x allows the presentation of 3D data. Existing apps and bundles created with map.apps 3.x are fully backward compatible using ArcGIS API for JavaScript 3.x. When creating new apps one can choose whether an app uses 2D data with the full functional map.apps scope or if the app shows 3D data.

This version of map.apps guarantees that map.apps 3.x and map.apps 4.x apps run in one installation.
